American Dreams
I love taking holidays in America, and having a son who lives in Michigan makes it even easier. We often visit Matt and his family, then head off to explore a different state before flying home. So far, we’ve visited 24 states — more than most Americans!
This time, though, our trip didn’t take us anywhere near Michigan. Instead, we grabbed the chance to celebrate our retirement, our 60th birthdays, and our Golden Wedding anniversary by bringing the whole family together for a reunion.
And now that we’re retired, we finally have the luxury of stretching our holidays for as long as we like.
I’ve always been drawn to the big American national parks — the dramatic landscapes, the desert colours, the sheer sense of scale. I’ve admired them in photos for years, and of course, I’ve always loved holidaying in America.
That’s how our American Dreams trip came together. Las Vegas made the perfect starting point — a fun stopover and an easy place to pick up our vehicle.
